Praca Sama pod szyldem Angry Town doprowadziła do wydania teledysku „Sister Of The Storm” w reżyserii Wojciecha Budnego.
W czasie swoich lat spędzonych w Londynie, Sam zdobył kilka prestiżowych wyróżnień, m.in. nagrywając z ikonami punku, Brianem Jamesem z The Damned i Charliem Harperem z UK Subs.

Sam Jones & The Artists Rifles – ‘Shoot To Kill’ album cover 2000
Sam Jones & The Artists Rifles 2001
After making the decision to become a solo artist in 1998 Sam Jones singer, songwriter & guitarist has written, recorded & performed almost constantly since. He played his debut solo gig as Sam Jones near to his hometown in Chester at Telfords Warehouse, a place that became Synonymous with testing the waters for a while. The set for the evening included the songs Did I Tell You? & Secret. Entering the new millennium he is remembered for founding Goth-garage outfit The Artists Rifles with whom it’s various line-ups has enabled Sam Jones to showcase his songs both as live performances & in the studio as a band or even ‘as though a band’ sometimes resorting to playing drums or bass himself on early drafts of songs. So who were Sam Jones & The Artists Rifles? Well there were two studio albums, ‘Shoot To Kill’ & ‘Cowboy Wicca’ both compiled from lose recording sessions which took place 1998-2000 the latter being an outtakes album from those tracks left over from the cherry picked tracks of the debut ‘official’ album including some acoustic demos & alternative mixes of tracks from ‘Shoot To Kill’. Sam Jones supplies the lead vocals, electric & acoustic guitars. He also appears on bass guitar, drums & backing vocals on many of the recordings. Most of the tracks on both albums were recorded using tape (analogue). A mini-disc ‘Shoot To Kill’ spawned a CD single & 2 promo videos both directed by, edited by & featuring Sam Jones. Like most the bands which came later also fronted by Sam Jones they were somewhere between a solo project & a band, the difference with this one was that at most this umbrella was giving the image or impression of a band outfit as reflected in the name. It’s origins as a live band are rather vague & murky as to when they used the name for the first time & there were several over-lapping members & understudies. A consistent line up formed by accident in 2000 to play one show then reformed for another gig in 2001 then again for a string of gigs / mini-tour of Englandthat summer. The band played their last show under this title at The Limelight Club in Crewe, a mutual decision among band members to shorten the name & continue as a The Artists Rifles, a title which would out live the band into several completely new line ups bar their front man each time he relocated. There was of course some promotional pictures from 2 shoots, the first of Sam Jones which spawned the cover of the CD single & album & the second of the band. Live audio exists from their first concert at The Limelight Club & was issued as a DIY live album.

Sam Jones is a British singer-songwriter, guitarist, recording artist, and producer. He often works as a multi-instrumentalist in the studio, especially during the composition/demo phase, usually playing drums first, then sometimes adding bass and piano. He has written and recorded more than 100 songs over several decades, as well as numerous instrumentals and co-written songs. A cross-section of this material features in his live solo performances. Some of his most recognisable songs have existed for many years.
Born in Chester, England, he grew up in North Wales, just over the English-Welsh border. Sam has English, Welsh, and Irish heritage.
He is known for his slide guitar playing, use of Yamaha instruments, and a vocal style ranging from crooner to screamy.
After a year experimenting with weekend pub gigs in England and Wales—supported by an in-progress YouTube album titled Covered—he ended 2024 with a successful debut tour of the Netherlands. Kicking off 2025 with 2 solo shows (at Irish pubs) in Netherlands during the countries ‘Koningsdag’ or ‘King’s Day’ celebrations in April. On return to the UK after a 10 week stretch in Poland Sam will be playing at The People’s Republic in Hull; a venue co-ran by Dave Hemingway of The Housemartins & The Beautiful South. Sam will also be starting a ‘temporary residency’ at The Star Inn, Whitby where he played for the first time in November last year. Recording of demos for the work in progress album ‘Covered’ continues & Sam will be introducing new covers into his live set including ‘As Tears Go By’ by Marianne Faithfull / The Rolling Stones. From June 2025 when Sam starts playing regular solo shows in UK again. He’s offering a 30 MINUTE set with a ‘backing track band’. The reason for this title is because as well as covers of 50s & 60s guitar instrumentals, film soundtracks & vocal covers. He’ll also be performing some of those previously ‘unplayable’ songs from his back catalogue. These will be produced with key-elements removed from the original studio recordings to produce ‘real’ & authentic sounding backing tracks. Over recent years Sam has prided himself on the lack of loopers, effects & very occasional use of backing tracks. Why the change of heart? Well first of all people seem to respond quite well to the instrumentals he’s occasionally played with backing tracks & the idea of playing songs I would normally only be able to play with a band appeals to me. It allows him the choice to play original versions of my songs rather than the altered ‘solo version’ which occurs with a few songs. Being able to play longer sets & earn more money after the hours of travel is also very appealing! Instrumentals give me a chance to rest my voice & take a break from the physical fatigue of constant right-hand rhythm guitar playing & left-hand barre chords. Vocal only performances gives me the chance to completely rest my arms & fingers. This option will be automatically added to my new UK only 2 hour shows as well as 90 minute (3 set option) in Europe & UK. Now taking his solo set list potential up to approx. 40 tracks.
Angry Town will join Healthy Junkies for a tour of Poland in October. The opening show will take place at Over the under Pub in Bzydgosz ran by the notable band. The tour will end with an Healthy Junkies acoustic set from core-members Nina & Phil supported by Sam Jones at Muzyczny Kram – sklep płytowy in Toruń. The record shop is ran by local film maker Wjoictek Budny who provided ANGRY TOWN with 3 promo videos. The shop was officially opened with a Sam Jones live-streamed performance in 2022. A Facebook group has been set up to support the tour.
September ‘Sam Jones: Songs & Storytelling’ ticketed events in Poland.
Since September 2023, he has used the stage name Samuel Thomas Jones for a series of acoustic and slide guitar shows, performing and previewing new songs like Doggerland, Spinning Jenny, and Wishing Well. In January 2024, he used this name while performing at the iconic London venue The Water Rats. Linktree pages concerning his acoustic & slide online presence have been created using under the name. A Linktree page for both acoustic & slide online presence have been created under the name to help make a clear distinction to this side of Sam’s musicianship.
Since late 2019, he has split his time between Llandudno in North Wales (where he spends most of the year) and Toruń, where he resides for several months annually and holds resident status.
In 2017 and 2018, he led the Polish mod-punk band Angry Town, named after Gniewkowo, where the original lineup first met following one of his solo shows. Sam’s earlier journey through a series of powerful trios led to the band’s formation. He revived the name to release a live EP and two singles during the 2020 lockdown, both accompanied by politically themed music videos released on YouTube. Angry Town returned to the stage in 2022 as a duo, supporting Sham 69 in Poland. Their official album, No Second Chance, was released on CD in March 2023 and remastered by Tim Turan for digital release in October that same year.
In addition to music, his unique hybrid style blending fashion and alternative culture caught the attention of Relco London in 2017, who hired him as a model. He appeared on their website alongside Blue Nation. He later partnered with DressCode Shirts & Mazeys, who featured both old and new images of him, including on their Amazon store page.
In 2016, he moved to Toruń, in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship of Poland, where he lived for 3 years. The city is featured in his music video Bulletproof.
After living in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, for 3 years, he spent 12 years in London, working as a film extra for 5 years. He appeared in films such as Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and the Ian Dury biopic Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll. Some of his featured roles ended on the cutting room floor, like his small part in Cemetery Junction, written by Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant. For almost the whole time he lived in London, he worked as a guitar teacher. His students included Andy Bell (of Erasure) and actor Joseph Mydell, whom he helped prepare for a performance as Jimi Hendrix at the Handel-Hendrix House.
He has worked with several notable musicians, including Ged Lynn (The Stairs), Charlie Harper (UK Subs), Brian James (The Damned), and PJ (Anti-Nowhere League), and even appeared on a track with Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers in Stranger Things). He has already earned the respect of many in the industry, including music journalist John Robb.
As the frontman of his diverse trio Carnations or as a solo act, he has supported several major artists, including Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson), UK Subs, The Coral, and Polish band Kobranocka.
Primarily a solo artist and performer, he has also performed under several band names since 1999. His best-known bands include The Artists Rifles (2001–2005), the London-based studio project The Berlin Lights (2010–2014), and currently Angry Town in Poland (2017–2018, 2020, 2022–present), with each project name also used for releases and online presence during its active period. Between these three major projects and over various years, he used the name Sam Jones for different duo/band performances or music releases. After a long break from live shows, a new 2/3 Italian London-based power trio, Sam Jones Band (2015), unintentionally became the precursor to Angry Town about 18 months later.
In the 1990s, he played in school-performance duos Sam & Andy (1992–1993) and Sam & Tim (1994), where he began composing and co-writing original instrumental music. He was in bands like The Siege (1994), a grunge group that briefly featured footballer Michael Owen as a backing vocalist, and whose members were suspended from school for possession of the drug marijuana. Later, The Garden Gnomes (1994) and Nurosis (1996) both completed albums. These last two were integral to Sam’s development as a singer, songwriter, and co-leader. He was often seen as the driving force in these early groups, helping shape his evolution as a solo artist.
including mini-tours across Netherlands, France, Belgium, and Poland. He has even performed on the Isle of Man. His first international show was in Poznań, Poland, at Cafe Mięsna in 2007.
Since April 2016, he has undertaken four solo European tours, all self-booked, self-funded, and self-promoted.
He later established his own booking agency/record label, Camouflage Booking/Camouflage Records, selling limited edition CDs and USBs online and at shows.
